The Food of Ben Shewry
Ben Shewry is the Executive Chef of Attica restaurant in Melbourne, currently one of Australia’s most awarded and celebrated dining experiences. He was raised in a small rural part of Taranaki on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand before heading over to Australia to further his career. As a child Ben was exposed to a rugged environment and was taught to appreciate and respect everything about it’s natural beauty. This has heavily influenced Ben’s approach to food and sustainability so the theme of ‘Origin’ was developed to reflect this.
The design needed to display a refined simplicity that echo’s Ben’s philosophy toward the creation of his dishes. The cover uses a heavily embossed abstract illustration to convey a sense of natural texture, form and colour which works as an extension of the overall aesthetic. We shot a large part of the scenic imagery in New Zealand and Australia with the food being photographed in Melbourne by Colin Page and styled by myself and Ben.
